About This Event
On March 18th, 2022, a tragic incident occurred, resulting in the loss of Captain Ross "ALF" Reynolds and three fellow Marines from Marine Medium Tilt Squadron VMM-261 Raging Bulls in Norway. The Los Alamos Daily Post shared this heartbreaking story on June 9th, 2022, in an article titled "Newlyweds Suffer Tragic Loss" by Kirsten Laskey. The article highlighted the devastating impact on Ross and Lana Reynolds, who had recently married on February 9th, 2022, just before Ross's departure to Norway.
Lana currently resides in the house that she and Ross built in 2022. Unfortunately, the construction of their home faced delays due to COVID-related supply issues, and the settlement could not be finalized until after Ross had already left for Norway. Despite this, Ross participated in the settlement process through a video call from Norway shortly after his departure, unaware of the tragedy that would strike just days later.
Since the loss of Ross, Lana has been enduring immense grief, and the time following the accident has been particularly challenging for her. In memory of the Ghost 3-1 crash victims, Lana will be attending the Wingman Foundation Coastal Carolina Memorial 5k & Kid's Fun Run in Jacksonville, NC, on July 15th. This event aims to bring together the families and friends affected by the crash. For more details about the run, please click here.
One of the additional hardships Lana faced as Ross's next of kin was an unfortunate oversight in the DOD’s administrative system that prevented her from receiving the military life insurance benefits to which she was entitled. However, Ross's friends, as well as various military-related charities and foundations, have stepped in to support Lana by organizing fundraisers and making donations.
Despite these collective efforts, Lana still faces significant financial challenges and carries a considerable amount of debt relative to her income. To address this issue, Tom Wando, Lana’s father, is organizing a fundraiser on September 22nd, 2023. The event, named the Friends Of Ross (FOR) "ALF" Memorial Golf and Cornhole Tournament, will take place at the Los Alamos Country Club. Volunteers will be assisting in making the tournament a success, with registration starting at 8 am and the kick-off scheduled for 9 am. The event will feature several FOR ALF awards and prizes, as well as food, beverages, and "FOR ALF" merchandise available for purchase. All proceeds from this charity event will be donated to Lana Reynolds and the local Boy Scouts of America troops. To register for the event and to learn more about Ross and Lana, please visit here.
The love and support shown towards Lana Reynolds during this difficult time are truly heartwarming. By participating in this fundraising event or by becoming an event sponsor, you will make a meaningful contribution to this cause. Let us rally together and honor the memory of Ross “ALF” Reynolds!
